Who are we?

AAP Home Based & Family Care is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) involved in the caring and upliftment of underprivileged communities in Gaborone and surrounding villages established in 2002.

Our dream is for every child to live in a safe and

loving home, growing up to be a totally independent individual who contributes significantly to the development and future of this beautiful country.

What do we do?

With over 60 volunteers in diverse villages across Botswana, AAP is on the ground, encouraging, nourishing and looking after over 2000 orphans and underprivileged children in Serinane, Mantshwabisi, Malwelwe, Matsalatladi, Lerolwana, Segwagwa and Old Naledi. AAP also provides support to the wider community, including:

•     Feeding and clothing

•     Providing nursing care

•     Providing counselling

•     General support to destitute terminally

       ill patients

Where did AAP start?

The programme cares for orphans from Old Naledi (Gaborone), Sikwane, Mantshwabisi, Monwane, Serinane, and Mmanoko. The programme started in Old Naledi and Sikwane with about 120 orphans. In the early 2000s, project manager, Martha Rampa, set up an organisation called AAP Home Based Care Family Life Programme, which provided home- based care to people living with HIV/AIDS.AAP invested in fostering a good relationship within these communities and have established relationships with school teachers and principals, making it easier to re-place ‘out of school’ orphans in the school system.

The Future of AAP

With your assistance, AAP will be able to continue to do good work in vulnerable communities across Botswana and increase our footprint, covering greater ground. AAP is looking into the future, with aims to:

•    Establish a permanent home that will shelter vulnerable children until they are self-reliant. The orphanage will raise these children with love, encourage their academic and spiritual development, and nurture the whole person.

•    Develop a day-care centre, so that children adjust to the rigours of attending school regularly, in turn preparing them for higher education.

•    Support ethical foundations within homes in underprivileged communities through counselling and discipleship.

•    Foster relationships with the media in order to spread awareness countrywide about orphans, the destitute, and the terminally ill.

How can I be involved?

When you adopt a person or a village through AAP, you enable immediate financial support for real children who are trying to overcome difficult odds. AAP’s operations are transparent. We have an excellent track record of putting our donors’ funds to good use, sowing actions directly into the lives of our children.

The board of trustees recognises the need to document sound financial policies and procedures that will provide boundaries for decision making, and guide the day- to- day operations of the project. You can contribute to the lives of the children by:

•     Donating funds: this will go a long way towards the sustainability of AAP programmes, which work directly with affected communities. Donor funds will also aid the AAP in meeting administrative expenses including allowances for full time care- takers and volunteers.

•     Donations in kind: items like food, clothing, and vehicles greatly improve the quality of services rendered by AAP.

•     Giving your time: the children benefit greatly from the attention, guidance and love that comes with time spent. Volunteerism is encouraged and appreciated. When one person gives a little, they can change a life. Many, together, can change a generation. Become a friend of AAP, today.
